Lazio
Discover Lazio - A Land of Silent Beauty
Stillway 's image
Lazio offers a variety of natural landscapes and quiet places away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist destinations.

The region is rich in natural environments, ranging from mountains to hills, from lakes to forests. These places, often less known compared to the main tourist attractions, offer an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity, ideal for those looking for an experience of silence surrounded by nature.

Many of the small villages in Lazio provide the opportunity to experience a more authentic and relaxing way of life. Here, time moves slowly, and you can discover artisan shops, small stores selling local food and wine specialties, and ancient traditions.

Beauty in Lazio is multifaceted—it can emerge in the middle of a beech forest, like that of the Cimini Mountains, or be reflected in the blue waters of Lake Bolsena. It resonates in the bells of Rome’s Baroque churches, glows in the warm hues of the stones of Ancient Roman ruins at sunset, and thrives in the gardens of Renaissance villas.
Travel Proposal:
Rome and Tuscia – The Silent Beauty

Day 1: Rome

● Guided tour of the Imperial Forums, Arch of Constantine, and Colosseum, where our encounter with beauty begins.

● Continue towards the Basilica of San Clemente, notable for its unique feature—the overlapping of three layers from different time periods.

● This is followed by a guided tour of Rome’s historic center, passing by some of the city's most beautiful landmarks, including the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo de' Fiori.

Day 2: Tivoli and Bomarzo

● In Tivoli, we visit Villa d'Este, a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, along with its garden filled with fountains, nymphaea, and water features.

● We then continue to explore the Park of the Monsters of Bomarzo, a place steeped in mystery, silence, allusions, and illusions, a unique example of the architectural-naturalistic culture of the late 16th century.

Day 3: Viterbo

● Guided tour of Viterbo, a medieval city where the papal court moved in the thirteenth century. Among others, we visit the San Pellegrino area, a medieval neighborhood still intact that offers evocative impressions and atmospheres of pure Medieval times.

● In the afternoon, we find peace in the beech forest of Monte Cimino, where centuries-old beech trees are interspersed with the remains of Etruscan settlements. The ideal place to immerse ourselves in the peace and vastness of nature.

Day 4: Lake Bolsena and Civita di Bagnoregio

● We spend the morning at Lake Bolsena, with free time available for guests to relax, enjoy a visit to the medieval village of Bolsena and its small artisan workshops, or take part to a boat excursion on the lake. The shores of Lake Bolsena are characterized by breathtaking views and a wonderful chromatic contrast when its black sands meet the deep blue of its waters and the lush green of the surrounding forests.

● In the afternoon, we visit Civita di Bagnoregio, a picturesque village located on top of a hill, accessible only via a narrow pedestrian bridge from which you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Lazio.

● After the visit we return to Viterbo for dinner.

Day 5: Tarquinia and Ostia Antica

● This morning, we head towards the Etruscan Necropolis of Monterozzi in Tarquinia, the most valuable in the Mediterranean area.
An immense heritage of great artistic value, serving as a testament to the Etruscan way of life—one that, in many respects, was more complex than that of the Roman world—and as evidence of the Etruscans' flourishing and uninterrupted painting tradition.

● In the afternoon, our guide will accompany us through the archaeological site of Ostia Antica. Here, we will walk along ancient Roman roads, passing thermal baths, workshops, and villas adorned with stunning mosaics and paintings.

● After the visit, we return to Rome.

Day 6: Rome

● In the morning, we enjoy an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Rome—Villa Borghese, the fifth-largest public park in the city. Its greenery ranges from Italian-style gardens to English-style landscapes, featuring fountains, ponds, and numerous historic buildings, including the Galleria Borghese, which houses a collection of masterpieces by great artists such as Raphael, Titian, Correggio, Caravaggio, Bernini, and Canova.

● After a leisurely afternoon, we meet in the evening for an aperitif on a boat along the Tiber, where the city reveals its beauty from a new and captivating perspective.
